How we score eSIMs

Every plan and provider on eSIM Critic gets a score out of 10. Here is what goes into it.

Price per GB (40%)

We read every provider's public prices each night and compare each plan's price per gigabyte with the median for the same country. Unlimited plans are compared per day. A plan's score is its provider's score, moved up or down by how its price compares.

Network (30%)

Which local operators the eSIM connects to and whether 5G is included. We're adding our own speed tests country by country.

Setup and support (20%)

How long it takes from payment to working data, whether there's a one-tap install link on iPhone, and how fast support replies.

Fair terms (10%)

Refunds for unused plans, a clear start date for validity, top-ups without installing a new eSIM, and no hidden speed limits.

What the score is not

Providers can't pay to change a score or their position in a list. Commission rates play no part in rankings.
