What happened
In July 2025 Turkey's telecom regulator, BTK, ordered foreign eSIM sellers to stop selling to people inside the country. Several provider websites and apps became hard to reach from Turkish networks.
What still works
Travellers report that eSIMs bought and installed before arrival keep working on Turkish networks. The problem is buying or installing one after you land.
What to do
Buy and install your Turkey eSIM at home, before the flight. Keep the confirmation email offline in case you need the activation code. If you plan a long stay, a local SIM from Turkcell or Vodafone is the alternative.
