Unlimited or 10 GB: which is cheaper?

When unlimited plans pay off, and when they quietly slow you down.

How much you'll use

Maps, messaging and social media use roughly 0.5 to 1 GB a day. Video calls and streaming can use 2 to 3 GB an hour.

Read the fair-use line

Many 'unlimited' plans slow to 1 Mbps or less after 1 to 3 GB a day. That's enough for messages, not for video. Each plan on eSIM Critic shows the speed after the daily limit.

The rule of thumb

For trips under two weeks with normal use, a fixed 5 to 10 GB plan is usually cheaper. Unlimited makes sense if you work remotely or share data with a laptop.
